Adventurers, Thrill-Seekers and Wanderers,

October is finally here and soon fall break will be upon us. Some will head off on an amazing adventure to West Virginia, others will take amazing into their own hands, whatever you decide, make it awesome, or at least make it sound like it was awesome.

This is what happened:

Some really cool people went to the Friends of Muir Valley Trail Day and showed some invasive species who's boss. The POC was the largest group there! Go us! Ben and Momma T showed their strength and won men and women's arm pull-up competition. Max and Ben won a super ton of chalk. Sunday some newbies learned to climb. Overall a stellar time was had by all.

Some even cooooooooler people went down to southern Indiana and hiked the Oriole Trail. Many selfies were taken, spiders attacked and everyone is covered in bug bites, but of course totally worth it!

Sam, PJ and Troy decided ride their #bikez 100 miles on Sunday in the Apple Cider Century ( and then drink a zillion cups of apple cider and gorge on potato soup. So, if #bikez interest you and apple cider and potato soup sound like a good combo, you should consider this next year, PJ is confident the weather will be perfect again.

Katherine, Zac and Mary did a really far away one day kayaking trip since they missed Gauley Fest and it was awesome.

This is what is happening:

Our totally rad mountain biking consultants gave a gnarly presentation about, you guessed it, mountain biking! I've attached the presentation they gave to this email, but all you really need to know is how to lean your bike against something, take a picture of it and post it on this page: You're life will change, I promise.

This is what is going to happen:

POC Muir Valley Trail Day
If you went to the trail day this past weekend or you think it sounds totally awesome, there is another one coming up! This trail day is hosted by the POC, it will be on October 25th and we will be building an erosion wall. The plan: drive down to a campsite close to Muir Valley Friday night, free camping. Wake up early Saturday, work allllll day, lunch will be provided (let Sara know if you are a vegetarian). Camp again Saturday night, either the same place or somewhere else depending what you want to do on Sunday. Sleep after a hard day of work. Sunday, hike or climb, only lame people just go home. So far we only have 17 signed up, we had 40 last year and are hoping for 50 this year. Here's the link to sign up: and here is the link for the drive board: Remember when picking a car on the driver board, pick on that is doing something that you want to do on Sunday so you all can have fun together!

One of our totally awesome backing consultant Elizabeth Frye is taking a trip to Morgan-Monroe, the trip is leaving Saturday morning and coming back Sunday afternoon/evening depending on how things go, at the meeting she had 4 spots left, if you're interested, especially if you have car, email her at: This email address is being protected from spambots. With POCtoberfest just around the corner we need to start preparing! First off, ALL GEAR MUST BE RETURNED BY FRIDAY. The only exception to this is if you have spoken to me or Momma T (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). If you are going on a trip this weekend and need your gear LET US KNOW. If you do not contact us and we do not get gear back, you're gear checking out privileges will be in jeopardy. I don't want that to happen and neither do you. If none of the openings are convenient for you, email me and I will be happy to work with you to get it back to the closet. The closet will be open after our regular meeting next week for POCtoberfest goers ONLY and we will only be checking out sleeping bags, tents, sleeping pads and stoves/pots pans. All gear for sports will be taken by the consultants and checked out on a daily basis while at POCtoberfest.

Don't forget that roll sesh happens every Monday and Wednesday from 8 - 9:30 p.m. in the Aquatic Center at the Corec. If Kayaking interests you or you think it might, go! Things to help with POCtoberfest and POC in general: and Learn the words.

Have an awesome weekend my friends, fall break is just around the corner!
