POC Newsletter 9/19/12

In case you haven't figured it out by now, this is the newsletter for the week. Snoogenz.

BIZ-NAZ!!!

Bob Han was very pleased that we cleaned up all of his crap... so pleased that he offered to give the POC mountain bikiers mountain biking lessons (like we need lessons anyways! PSHT!!!). There will be three sessions lasting a couple hours each. We don't know if there will be a cost or not. Email your lovely VP Amy for more details.

Our new gear cards are in (Thanks Alex we love you!) and they are nifty. Talk to Alex if you do not have a gear card yet but will be checking out gear soon. Here's how these nifty pieces of cardboard work:

You must have specific skills for specific sports (ex: for kayaking you would need to be checked off for swim test, roll test, underwater exit, etc.) in order to check out gear for that sport. Basically, if we haven't approved you to use our equipment in the field, you won't be allowed to use it, plain as that, no ifs ands or buts. We will not rent you an ice axe if you don't know how to use it. I know its a crazy idea but thats how it works now. Get over it. ALSO, you MUST return your rented gear in order to get your gear card back. If you don't return your rented gear, you won't get your card back, and you won't be allowed to rent our gear until your previously checked out gear is returned, in which case we can return your gear card to you, and then you can rent more gear, and so on and so forth.

Officer meeting next Tuesday Sept. 25

POCTOBERFEST!!!

This trip is FULL and registration is CLOSED! If you wanted to go and you haven't signed up you are SOL (shit outta luck!). Better luck next year. Talk to Forrest about payments. If you do not turn in your waivers, club dues, and trip fees you CANNOT go to POCTOBERFEST

We still need certified drivers. Scan your drivers license and insurance card and send it to Shreve to get approved. You don't even need to put pants on to take care of this.

ALL GEAR MUST BE TURNED IN ONE WEEK BEFORE POCTOBERFEST!! Poctoberfest gets first dibs on gear because it is an official trip and lots of people will be needing that gear. So don't be a bitch by hording our gear. Amy will give you her serious face and we will send Alex to your house to repossess them. That being said, you only need to check out personal gear for poctoberfest (sleeping bags, tents, sleeping pads, packs, etc). DO NOT check out sport specific gear like climbing harnesses or kayaks or bikes. Leave this to the consultants. Any other questions about POCtoberfest email Forrest. He has magic shoes.

SUCCESSFUL VOYAGES

Laura took the backpacking beginner callout trip this past weekend to the Red River Gorge. No one died...uneventful I know.

MISADVENTURES IN THE WORKS

Katherine is going to the Red. Be able to climb 5.9s and higher and not be a pussy if you want to go.

Kayaking beginner trip sometime somewhere soon maybe......

I am going squirrel hunting this weekend. You're not invited.

Thats all I got for ya. Be safe, go forth and discover the world! And it never hurt anyone to wear a little sunscreen.

Cheers,
