Newsletter 8/24/10

 Hey POCers!

First meeting of the year, WHOOOO! :)

-All new and returning members must fill out a club sports waiver IMMEDIATELY before participationg in any POC events. Turn in your forms and $25 dues to Sam asap. You will not be allowed to check out any club gear until you have paid your dues.
-CALLOUT date has been CHANGED to Sep. 14th in PHYS 114 at 7pm. Hope to see everybody there!
-Next week's meeting will be held in FRNY B124, bring your favorite photos on a flash drive and make everyone jealous by showing off all your super cool summer adventures.
-A driver's meeting will be held in place of our regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 7th. Anyone who is considering driving on any club trips must be a registered driver through club sports, so please attend. Drivers will have
priority for all big trips.

-Greg took a month long road trip w/ an old friend climbing through Arkansas, Kentucky, and some other states. He found some sweet bouldering and never had to get on a rope.
-Graham climbed out in Colorado
-Sam lived in Colorado for the summer, climbed 12 weekends in a row, and is now a beast at climbing.
-Peter, Isaac, Donnie, and Kaylin visited Logan a POC alumni in Colorado. They rafted, climbed Mount Elbert, and Peter rode a donkey.
-Evan spent 2 weeks in Africa, went on safaris, and worked in an orphanage
-Kate went on kayaking trips nearly every weekend
-Kayakers went on lots of wicked awesome trips all summer long, but are too cool to talk about them. They also claim to have converted Joe Bledsoe. Joe, you will be dearly missed by all the climbers
-Kyle, Isaac, Grant, and their trustworthy guide Andrew successfully rafted the Pine in the bucket boat (video documentation is available for your amusement)
-Mandy spent the summer in Montana, competed in a bouldering competition, and bought a shiny new helmet and crash pad
-Tim went to Norway, climbed many sport routes and several crags

-Mandy is taking a trip to the Red River Gorge this weekend, experienced climbers only. Contact her if you are interested and read her email for further details.
-Isaac is going bouldering in Muscatatuck this weekend, the routes are more difficult, but beginners are welcome. Contact Isaac if you would like to go.
-Nick is organizing a mountaineering trip to Colorado over Labor Day weekend. THIS TRIP IS CLOSED! However, feel free to contact him to get on the exclusive waiting list!
