POC Newsletter 2/2/10

Hey everyone,

*For new people:

-To join the club you need to fill out a waiver and pay dues($25 for a year) and bring that to a meeting or gear hours(times sent out through email list).

-After that you have access to our gear (about $30,000-$50,000 of awesome stuff). We have everything you will need for just about any trip.

-You do not need experience to join our club, we will teach you everything you need to know.

*The lock-in will be Feb. 12th at Towers, a sign up list is being sent through email for this.  It is $10 (pay when you get there that night) and even though it is at the climbing gym anyone is welcome. We will be providing pizza and drinks.  We will leave at 8pm that Friday night from Purdue West and come back at 6 am the next morning.

*Monday at 2pm is the meeting with the corec to talk about building the climbing wall that is going to be in the new corec. Email Andy if you have experience and opinions about what they will be doing with this wall.

Trips that went out:

*Joe and Logan went to Portland Arch, which is about 45 minutes from campus for some hiking. They had a great time and are thinking of going again this weekend.

*Andy went to Bloomington, IL where he checked out the climbing gym there that is made of silos. He successfully taught his friend to belay in 15 min. out of gear in his car to avoid a silly belay charge.

Trips going out:

*Join Brad Wednesday at 9pm for Man vs. Wild

*Feb. 20th there will be a ski trip to Perfect North. Its $45 and you can email Brad for more info at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

*Feb 20th Kyle will be going to Hoosier National Forest for some orienteering practice. To go or for more info email him at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

*ROLL SESSION!!!!!! for kayaking happens every Monday and Wednesday from 8-930pm in the dive well at the purdue pool. You need to go to these to go outside with them! (like their beginner spring break trip) and they're fun so you should go!

*Emails will be sent out about climbing trips to the gym. You must climb with us inside before we will let you go outside with us. If you've been climbing for awhile and lead and all that on your own, you need to climb with us and let us check you off before we will let you lead on our ropes.
