POC Newsletter 2/24/04

Announcements:

-If you are interested in a getting or renewing your CPR or First aid certification this semester, contact Ari (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). There are only a few spaces left.

-If you are interested in giving a presentation to the club about a past trip that you have been on, contact Ari (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) you are more interesting than you think.

-This year's super cool t-shirt, the "10 Signs you might be a POCer" is still for sale. They are $8.  See Jackie at the next meeting, you know you want one.

-All members new and old, if you haven't filled out hold harmless forms (both the gray and the white insurance forms) for this school year, you need to.  You can fill them out at the next meeting.

-There will NOT be a roll session Friday, so if you need to work on your skills before spring break you only have two roll sessions left.

Outgoing Trips:

-Climb Time Towers on Thursday, meet behind the RSC at 6pm

-The POC lock-in at Climb Time Towers is Saturday.  It is a marvelous time for all, even you non-climbers out there.  It will be $15 and the club will be providing pizza.  You can pitch in other edibles if you feel so inclined.  To see what you will be missing if you don't go check out the past pictures:

- This year to make up for the lack of colorful foam things at Towers we will have (hopefully) Twister (both the horizontal and the vertical verities), a slack line or two, possibly some caterpillar wrestling (if you bring a sleeping bag), climbing (of course), and other such hilarity to be thought up by sleep deprived minds.

-If you aren't going to the lock-in and you like free stuff, contact Matt (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) about volunteering at a local adventure race this weekend (FREE STUFF!).

Spring Break Trips:  Get ready!  Spring break is rapidly approaching.

-For spring break info check out the message board: http://poc.purdue.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=142 If you want to get the word out on a new trip start a new topic.

-If you are interested in going kayaking in the Nantahala, the Chattahoochee, and the Ocoee over spring break contact Ryan (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

-If you are interested in climbing in Red Rock Canyon (just outside of Las Vegas), contact Joel (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for information and post your plans to the message board.

-If you are interested in backpacking in Canyonland (remember Candy Land?  What a game. Yeah, anyway this will be nothing like that. Unless your tent looks like a gumdrop, then just maybe.) in Utah, contact Mike G (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and Ari (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) (because when you volunteer someone else you volunteer yourself)

-If you are interested in backpacking the southern Tennessee/northern Alabama region and then in the Floridian panhandle, contact Joe (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

If you have any questions, comments, or complaints, compose them into some type of old-timey a cappella ballad about a seasoned woodsman reflecting on his life (good Luck), and send them to me @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
