Announcements:

-ALL POCERS new and old (for the new members a POC'er is a member of the POC [Purdue Outing Club]),  if you want to go on trips and check out gear you need to pay Jackie your dues and fill out a new liability waiver for this year.  If you think you might drive on any trip you need to fill out a driver form, one form works for the year.

-If you are interested in receiving First Aid or CPR certification at discounted rates (everyone should be, it is very easy and it could be very important with what we do), contact Ari @ This email address is being protected from spambots. But before the discount, the rates are $30 for CPR and First Aid, or $25 for either.

-POCAR is a 48 hour adventure race that will take place this Jan. 17-19.  Teams of 4-6 will cover more than 30 miles as the crow flies on foot with just a map and compass to guide them.  This year's race will take place in Morgan-Monroe State Forest.  The information packet and registration form for POCAR are available online at http://poc.purdue.org/pocar.php.  There will be a medical form that

everyone must fill out that will be up shortly.  Registration is open now until Dec. 2.  It is recommended that you register early to reserve your spot.  There are 40 spots open, with 25 of those reserved for Purdue teams.  The registration fee is $20 per person for POC members, and $40 per person for everyone else.  There will be randomized teams, but they will be competing with everyone else.  If you would like to be on a randomized team you must email Nathan before November 17.  If you have any questions or you would like to help with the race contact Nathan @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

-There will be a Winter Navigation/Racing clinic for those interested in preparing for POCAR.  The clinic will cover orienteering skills as well as winter hiking safety and racing techniques.  The clinic will be on Monday, November 10th, 7pm in STEW 218-C, the cost is $2.  RSVP to Randy @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to reserve your spot.
